Project Highlight – Livingston Youth Library

Freedom Interiors collaborated with BC Design Group to create a fun and engaging space for the new youth library in Livingston County. The existing library was in the basement of the Livingston County Library in downtown Chillicothe, MO. They had maximized their one-room space, leaving no room for the expansion of programs.

“The most obvious advantage I felt that Freedom Interiors offered was the amount of choices they provided.  The option to see the space virtually instead of just seeing pictures was great and allowed us to bring our vision to reality.”

In 2018, a former 10,450-square-foot Walgreens was remodeled and repurposed to serve the community’s youth. The Lillian DesMarias Youth Library opened its doors in the fall of 2020, a bright, cozy space for children of all ages. The new building allows areas to be separated by age groups and is filled with a variety of soft seating, book shelves, study tables, and acoustic panels to serve different purposes. This new space allows for programing growth and development for the youth of Livingston County’s youth for generations to come.

Our new workspace and common areas fit our goals in our new building by providing more work area. In our old building, desks were shared between multiple staff members and the break room table could only accommodate two people. With our new setup, everyone has their own large desk and the breakroom table can seat six.”
